Assumption College Ubonratchathani

Assumption College Ubon Ratchathani is a private Catholic school run by the Brothers of Saint Gabriel of Thailand, following the way of Saint Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort. Its official grand opening was on May 31 st, 1957 with the first 312 students being males. Originally it was named Suppunyu Wittaya Songkroh School under the supervision of the Roman Catholic diocese of Ubon Ratchathani.

Later in 1965, the Brothers of Saint Gabrielaccepted the Suppunyu Wittaya Songkroh School from the diocese of Ubon Ratchathani and changed its nameto Assumption College Ubon Ratchathani; Brother Serafin was the first director. We are one of the seventeen of the institutes of the Saint Gabriel Foundation of Thailand and determined to run an education system withexcellent academics as well asextracurricular activities continuously benefit our society and our country. The curriculum is developed to be an up-to-date model for successful academic instruction by creating effective cross-cultural communication and international language. This model for education has been taught from pre-kindergarten to grade twelve to over 2,000 students at our school.

Since 1997, our students can choose the curriculumour school has designed and developed for the English Bilingual Program (EBP) based on their own personal preferences.For grades kindergarten to gradenine, weteach supplementary English classes infour subjects: Mathematics, Science, English and Social Studies.These supplementary courses are taught by foreign teachers from the United States of America, England, and Australia;there are also Thai co-teachers who work as assistant teachers. In 2003, a newEnglish-supplemented curriculum was designed and developed called the Intensive English Program (IEP).This curriculum is taught by foreign teachers who come from the Philippines and India, as well as Thai teachers who work as assistant teachers. Similarly to the English Bilingual Program, there arefour subjects which are taught in English.The Intensive English Program provides another option for students who wish to study English at ACU.High school students may choose a course of study including Science or Languages program.
